I wanted to create a building within a room. A building that brings a sense of depth and dynamic, a sculpture that invites creativity. Using shadow and light, I wanted to create transparency framed by a regular grid that introduces a rhythm to the space, broken up by elements projecting out to varying degrees. In an added effect, the structure also expands the visual sense of space. The inspiration came from my daily studies of buildings, in particular residential complex in Weimar Germany, showing architecture inspired by the Bauhaus movement. Crafted by carpenter Michael Hansen.
